‘Mist Over The Moor’ photographed by Mark Mullen

A great deal of the dramatic action in the second half of Buried Pasts takes place on the North Yorkshire Moors.  Consequently, I spent hours searching through a multitude of photographic portfolios in the not too optimistic hope of finding the perfect shot for my cover. I wanted something that would capture the bleak yet stunning beauty of the moor’s landscape, while at the same time relating in some way to the novel’s title.

From the first moment I saw Mark Mullen’s stunning picture above, I knew that I’d found what I needed. The character of the moor had been captured just as I pictured it myself, whilst that almost neatly arranged cluster of stones (if one were to put a sinister spin on it) could easily be marking a burial site of some kind. That’s the way I saw it, anyway.

Thank you so much Mark for allowing us to use your picture. You can see a lot more of his work by visiting http://www.markmullenphotography.co.uk/
